Virgin Voyages: Adults Only Cruises

I’ve now sailed with Virgin Voyages three times: once on a solo trip, once with a friend, and once with a group of over 30 guests!

Read on for my thoughts on this adults only cruise line. If you’re ready to book your next voyage, contact us to get started or book via my link, for the best deals and my personal assistance before, during, and after your trip.

Who Will You Be Traveling With?

Romance Travelers: Many of the Sailors I work with are voyaging with a romantic partner, and Virgin Voyages is always a hit. Many of the activities and games are perfect for a pair, dining in the restaurants feels like a special date night each night, and there are plenty of spots around the ship to snuggle up with your special someone and gaze at the stars. This is the perfect trip for a couple looking to incorporate wellness, great food, adventure, or activity into their romantic getaway.

Friends’ Trip: The karaoke rooms, board games available for use, live music, shows in The Manor, and so much more make Virgin Voyages a great choice for a friends’ trip! When traveling with just one friend in a Sea Terrace, I enjoyed the space, the ease of separating our beds into an “L” shape for separate sleeping, and the option to convert the bed to a couch during the day. Keeping different hours and honoring our different interests was easy with the around-the-clock scheduled activities.

Group Travel: As a group we enjoyed spontaneous encounters at various events, our private group excursions, and planned meetups in open spaces like the Athletic Club. Traveling as a group means extra perks for all! One potential drawback is that dinners together are not easy, and as a large group are not possible. We didn’t mind this much – we had plenty of opportunities to get together, and everyone enjoyed their more intimate, independent moments.

Solo Travelers: Virgin Voyages is fantastic for solo travelers. Their Solo Sailor meetups, the ship’s layout, and the diverse activities make it easy to forge new friendships or enjoy solitude when preferred. I have traveled solo quite a bit, and Virgin Voyages is now my first choice when vacationing alone.

Solo sailing. Alone, but never lonely on Virgin Voyages.

Food and Dining

Virgin Voyages’ food is one major feature that keeps me coming back! The Galley offers a wide variety of made-to-order options to satisfy any craving at just about any time. Dining is included at all restaurants, and the dinners are a highlight. Other standout options include the pizza and the afternoon bites at the Dock. (Psst, when you book with me, I’ll send you a guide with my must-try recommendations.) I enjoyed dining in a new, restaurant-like setting each night, with meals that are sure to impress when compared to other cruises.

One of many tasty bites at Pink Agave, the must-try Mexican restaurant.

Bored? Never

Entertainment is another highlight of Virgin Voyages. With included activities like a free arcade, fitness classes, evening shows, pop-up entertainment, live music, seesaws, and more, there’s always something to keep you engaged. For social butterflies and night owls, The Manor offers late-night events to dance the night away. A morning in the hot tub or sunset hour from your balcony hammock are just a couple of many relaxing options. For those looking to splurge, the casino, spa, tattoo shop, and bookable activities (that often include enough bubbles or cocktails to justify the extra cost), are all great options. If you connect with the Happenings Cast (entertainment crew), you may be lucky enough to get a sneaky invite to a super secret event! If you do, don’t pass it by.

Not Just a Party Ship

A common misconception is that Virgin Voyages is like Spring Break. While you can party into the night if you choose, you can easily not visit the nightlife locations and enjoy a quieter experience, or focus on wellness with fitness focused activities and an early schedule. For me, I love the ability to make each day different and find the sweet spot in the middle. The ship hosts a wide range of ages, with young Gen Xers being the average. One thing all Sailors seem to share is a friendly attitude, so bring yours along!

The Dock! My favorite place for an afternoon snack or some late evening quiet time.

Virgin Voyages excels in providing fun, activities, and a touch of humor tailored to adults. It’s also perfect for those looking to unwind with some room service, take in the view on an ocean-view balcony, relax under the stars on a nearly deserted deck, or start their day with fresh juices, yoga, and delicious breakfasts. The experience is highly customizable, catering to a wide array of preferences and personalities, and to the many versions of “you”!
